My husband was admitted to Sandstone Spring Valley on December 27th after 9 days in the hospital due to RSV and acute kidney failure and a few other less serious issues. He couldn’t stand or walk; he couldn't move or adjust his position in bed. Thanks to the professional care of his nurses and the dedication of his physical therapists, I brought him home today, 3 weeks after admission. He is able to transfer from bed to wheel chair or walker and can walk short distances. Thanks to all for their professional care and sincere interaction with my husband.

Place was clean with lots of places to visit.There was a room with books and games. There was a soda fountain but no cups. Therapy department had seen my friend quickly and on Saturday. Recepcionist directions got us halfway there but there were signs and other friendly staff to direct us. My friend had to wait longer than he wanted to get his bed made but he was ok, saying he was glad to be of bed. So far a good experience.

Sunshine & Beth are so very nice. And Lala too. Elma David is very helpful also. In fact almost everyone is very hospitable. ALL THE GIRLS IN REHAB ARE GREAT!!!! JASON ALSO. I had a very enjoyable stay, even though I have had surgery. Thank you all!!!

I thought Sandstone was going to be a good fit for my brother as he needed to build his strength up. I must say the respistory team and manger was really good… hands down they gave me hope … but there were several times I would be there through the day (same) day and witness the nurses not caring for my brother … I stopped in after being there all night until visiting hours were over , only to come in the next day to see my brother drugged heavily up and unable to do anything but sleep . This was not what I expected .. my brother caught an infection and his face swelled. The head of nursing helped to have him seen but the whole visit and transport caused my brother to be in distressed , and this put in danger my brother passed away. I witnessed my brother feeding tube food turned off longer than normal. I believe he would have survived if the treatment was given was more intentional. The head of nursing was helpful but honestly the nurse tending to him was not and gave my brother un schedule meds.. I questioned it and was told he would awake soon! Why would you give him heavy medication at 8am when he needs to be awake for therapy !! Sadly I knew in my gut they did not care. I am extremely saddened by many things I saw here. People trust that you are going to take care of their family member . Never should family have to worry. . I was helped only because I stayed visible . However , If you do not visit your love one every day, do not trust that they are being cared for Like you would care. I am sure not every nurse was burned out … but clearly there were a few that were not pleasant… I suggest more training for the staff and please get more nurses that want to help and truly understands what it means to help people who can’t help themselves. I am grateful for nurse Michael and Rich the respistory manager and his team… They went beyond to assist me . A couple of CNA’s … I am still waiting for the case worker to return my emails.

"Please, get me outta here!!" Is what our daughter screamed in pain as her meds and antibiotics were delayed by hours and sometimes days!! Understaffed and overworked employees try to remain calm.. but with bad communications between all departments nothing gets done. And there's no one around on weekends to help you with problems. Find someplace else. 🙏🙏🙏

I would give 0 stars if I could brother hit call button no one ever showed up, I had to wrap his wound cause after they did a bad job of wrapping it came off after 2 hours and they left the wound with no cover, we called nurse nn one ever showed up. I had to go home get my medical supplies and wrap myself needed antibiotics, cause without he could die they made him wait till 11 at night then my brothers vein collapsed and I had to have him transfered to hospital they wanted to wait till they could do n a port whi h could takes days to give him his medication

I wish I could give negative stars to this "skilled nursing facility." I was sent here in August 2022 because I needed around the clock care to clear an infection caused by sepsis. Boy, was this place the wrong facility to send me to. The nurses except Paulette and a wonderful Asian male nurse were terrible. Make a call for service and it either took them hours to come if they came at all, which in my case was the norm (not responding to my call light at all). The tv stations barely came through if at all. The food was downright terrible as I was presented food not fit for even a dog. I had to order Jimmy John's subs every day I stayed in there from August 10th to September 8th spending $30-$40 a day. I also caught another infection because of the dirty facility and nurses who weren't sanitary when it came to changing my wound dressings. I DO NOT RECOMMEND Sandstone for anyone looking for care for their loved ones because they will not care whatsoever and it's there just for profit. Find somewhere else. That place was almost like prison that pretended to be more. Thank God Sunrise Hospital came to the rescue after putting me in Sandstone in the first place by getting me out of there early. I almost checked myself out with the IVs still attached to me. That's how bad it is. Oh, here's a pic of the dog food they tried to serve me for dinner one night. UPDATE (Response to Sandstone): What's the use of calling Quality Care? Everything was mentioned in my review. I'll add that had Sunrise not taken me out of there, I probably would've died as a result of the nurses not being prompt with changing and taking out my IVs. Leaving IVs in overnight without medicine runs the risk of infection and death to the patient. Someone should've taught you guys this in medical school. Also, when I did have to buy food because your dietary department sucked, there were 9 days out of the 30 I spent in there that I had to either wheel myself or walk in severe pain all the way to the front to pick up my food because the nurses pretended to be busy. Unless you guys would like to reimburse me the $1085 I spent for food delivery over the month I had the unpleasure of being in there, then I have nothing to talk to Quality Care about. Improve the facility so others won't get terrible care.
